I am delighted to be the new principal of Burrendah Primary School commencing in 2017. I look forward to becoming an integral member of the school community focusing on the Burrendah Primary School vision of empowering students to achieve their potential in a safe and supportive learning environment. I am passionate in delivering quality government school education having been employed in the WA public school system for 35 years. I have been selected to participate in the 2017/18 IPS Fellowship Program. This program will enable me to extend my leadership skills by working with some of the best educators in the world in a partnership with Harvard University. I am keen for Burrendah PS to benefit from my involvement in this unique opportunity.
For more than forty years the Burrendah community has enjoyed a close working relationship between staff, parents and the wider community and I am keen to ensure this close working relationship continues. This is particularly important as our school continues to grow in enrolments stretching some of our finite resources.
Burrendah Primary School enjoys a well-deserved reputation of being a high performing school that not only demonstrates academic excellence but also promotes a holistic approach to the development of each child, meeting the full range of educational, social and emotional needs. I look forward to working with the school community to ensure these excellent results continue as together we embed the school business plan’s Connect, Commit and Collaborate focus in the following areas:
- Engagement of students with a focus on individual student achievement and progress, and differentiation of the curriculum to meet individual learning needs.
- Engagement of staff through the provision of relevant professional learning that builds teacher capacity, leadership opportunities and a collaborative culture amongst staff.
- Engagement of parents and the wider community building synergy between home, school and the wider community, extending partnerships beyond the immediate school.
