Principal's Message

Welcome to Burrendah Primary School

As the Principal of Burrendah Primary School, with its well-respected history of providing exceptional educational outcomes, I warmly welcome you to our website. For forty-six years the Burrendah school community has enjoyed a close working relationship between staff and parents/guardians. We are very proud to be a high performing school within the local community of Willetton. In Term 4, 2021 Burrendah PS was selected as a finalist for the WA Education Awards Primary School of the Year 2021.

We are a culturally diverse school community, with representation from over 45 countries and students speaking a variety of different languages. The 'Select Language’ is a translation dropdown menu that is available on each page of the website, if English is not your preferred language. Alternatively select your preferred language using your browser.

We set high expectations of our students and work diligently to safeguard positive emotions across our school community.  Support is provided to an individual child’s well-being by providing a school environment that encourages each child to explore their potential as they work towards achieving their personal best. We gently urge our students out of their comfort zone to attempt new challenges. We encourage our students to develop and uphold respectful relationships with their peers, teachers and the broader community.

“Grow the Burrendah Way” underpins our Positive Behaviour Support Program reflecting our supportive learning environment, our strong work ethic and our desire to see our students achieve to the best of their ability. This is further supported by our Behaviour Expectations of Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Reach. With a very professional and capable staff together with supportive parents/guardians we are well placed in our shared purpose.

In 2022 we will be finalising our 2022-2024 business plan. I thank the School Board for the work they have already done during 2021 with our School Review Committee in developing recommendations for this business plan. I look forward to working with the school community to ensure our excellent results continue as together we embed our School Business Plan’s Connect, Commit and Collaborate focus in the following areas:

Student Engagement

With a focus on individual student achievement and progress, and differentiation of the curriculum to meet individual learning needs. Mental health and wellbeing of students is a top priority.

Staff Engagement

Through the provision of relevant professional learning that builds teacher capacity, leadership opportunities and a collaborative culture amongst staff. A mental Health focus to enable staff to work in an increasingly complex educational environment is paramount.

Families and Community Engagement
Building synergy between home, school and the wider community, extending partnerships beyond the immediate school.

Obviously, the class teacher is the first person to contact but I wish to assure you that my door is always open and I am happy to speak with you. I value your feedback, involvement and interest in our school.
