Junior Primary: Yr 1 - 2 | Room 19
In Room 19 we endeavour to treat every child as an individual – valuing their strengths and weaknesses. We foster a family spirit within the classroom and encourage the students to look out for each other.
The classroom program is structured to provide modelling and support, leading to independent work as the students’ progress. Children are rewarded through encouragement and our goal is to foster intrinsic motivation. There are times when rewards are used to encourage certain behaviours. Mathematics is streamed into groups to ensure students are working at their correct level of development. Reading is grouped within our own class to cater for individual levels. Oral language and hands-on activities /learning games form an integral part of our learning program. Handwriting is explicitly taught in a structured manner.
We value open communication with parents and we encourage all parents to come in and discuss any issues with us.
