Teaching Philosophy / Personal Interests at Burrendah Primary School
I believe learning should be an enjoyable experience for all students. As a teacher, I endeavour to deliver lessons that motivate students to develop critical thinking skills and the work habits required to become active and independent learners.
My interests include fostering a love of English, Mathematics and HASS (Humanities and Social Science) for all students by using differentiated and authentic learning opportunities inside and outside the classroom environment.

Mathematics Warm Up
Each day, we commence our Mathematics lessons with a mental warm up to assist students in developing their mathematical fluency. Warm ups run for approximately 15 minutes and students work independently to answer questions on mini whiteboards. Throughout the warm up, mental strategies are revised and students share their answers at the end of each set of questions.
Guided Reading
Throughout the week, students work in small reading groups to independently complete activities based upon a text. This takes place throughout our Literacy sessions. During a week’s rotation, students will work with the teacher for a session to read part of their text. Other rotations include a language based activity, a literature based activity, text comprehension questions and an ICT based activity.
